Success doesn’t come to those people that wait. When you talk about success, most people think it is just the money. But being successful goes beyond money. There are a lot of guys today that are wealthy that are not considered successful. A lot of rich guys can’t sleep or settled because they are not fulfilled. That in essence isn’t success. Money is just a part of being successful, contentment is the greatest of them all.

Stop being lazy! Stop be a cynic! Stop be a pessimist! Think! Think!! Think!!! And think. Think positive thoughts and have strong feelings that everything’s gonna turned out alright. Believe that the dots are gonna connect in the future. Steve Jobs said:

You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in the future.

Finally, be yourself and be different. Don’t act like everyone else because you are not the same with everyone. Just because everyone else thought something is a good idea doesn’t make it a good idea. Do what you feel deep in your mind to be right and trust it will all workout. Eleanor Roosevelt said:

Do what you feel in your heart to be right – for you’ll be criticized anyway. You’ll be damned if you do, and damned if you don’t.

1. Not having a plan of attack.

You don’t need to have a formal business plan—but you still need a plan. “People regard the business plan as homework they don’t want to do but planning helps me—whatever my success is,” says Tim Berry, chairman of Palo Alto Software, which produces business-planning software and author of The Plan-As-You-Go Business Plan.

While the big-format business plan is growing obsolete, Sujan Patel, vice-president of marketing at the software company When I Work and the founder of several SaaS startups, says, “You don’t need a formal 20-page business plan to successfully plan a business. You need to know who your customers are, what you are selling and what people are willing to pay for your product or service.”

In addition, work out how much cash you’ve got and how long it will last.

2. Focusing too much on the little stuff.

“First, you need to get your business off the ground,” says Steve Tobak, founder of Invisor Consulting, a business strategy firm, and author of Real Leaders Don’t Follow: Being Extraordinary in the Age of the Entrepreneur. While this directive may seem obvious, new business owners can get really bogged down by the details. Don’t do this.

6. Giving away too much and getting nothing in return.

Before you’ve established credibility as a seller or an expert, offering something for free can turn into a conversion and long-term customer, especially for those entrepreneurs focused on offering services. However, the cost of free product can add up, so think of offering something useful and intangible in exchange for a customer’s email address, such as a free e-book, recipe, instructions, webinar, guide or checklist, advises Joel Widmer, the founder of Fluxe Digital Marketing, a content-strategy firm.

7. Spreading yourself too thin on social media.

When you’re starting off with marketing and building your brand, test out one or two main social audiences where you know your audience is and can build a customized audience with a small budget. Don’t blow your advertising budget at the start.

As a general rule, Facebook and Pinterest tend to be better for product sales. LinkedIn is a better field for a business personality trying to build his or her own brand, explains Widmer. LinkedIn is also a good place for repurposing content.

10. Thinking that everything is one size fits all.

Just because a product or strategy has worked for one company doesn’t mean it will work for you. Have a healthy degree of skepticism about what you read and see successful elsewhere, Patel recommends. If you can test your product using minimum financial and resource risk, then do so.

As I said earlier, don’t dare create a blog if you have nothing to offer. Create a blog only because you want to offer some impressive information or idea to your audience, do it for passion and fun; only then, would you see success; It’s a lesson I learnt the hard way. When you have nothing tangible to offer, you will end up plagiarizing other people’s work and that could land you into big problem. Worse is, you will waste your time, energy and even money without getting a dime.

An important rule to note!

Keep aside the urge of monetizing your blog at your initial stage; focus more on offering good content. Only then would the traffic come and then you can earn some good cash from your blog.

Now, the following are the steps in creating a blog:

Put it in your mind that these are the steps to creating your blog but each one of them could be broad and it can never be a day’s job even if you worked your ass up. So take your time to understand some features first.

WORDPRESS CHILD THEME TUTORIAL

There are two main methods for creating a child theme. Doing so manually will give you more control over the theme’s settings and attributes. However, using a plugin serves as a time-saving alternative. Let’s start with the manual method.

THE MANUAL METHOD

To carry out these steps, you’ll need to install a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) solution and bone up on your FTP skills if necessary. For this example, we’ll use FileZilla, as it is user-friendly, reliable, and well-documented.

STEP #1

Once you’ve opened up FileZilla, input your credentials into the Host, Username, Password, and Port fields. If you can’t find them in your hosting account’s back end, contact your provider’s support for assistance:

After you’ve done this, you should see the files your server contains in the upper right-hand quadrant, at which point you’ll want to move onto step two.

STEP #2

For this tutorial, Twenty Seventeen will be our parent theme. In the upper right-hand quadrant, navigate to wp-content > themes:

Next, we’ll look at creating the child theme itself.

STEP #3

FileZilla’s bottom right-hand quadrant contains your selected folder’s files. This is where we’ll create our child theme, so create a new directory and name it twentyseventeenchildtheme:

Once your directory is created, you’ll need to ‘link’ the parent and child theme.

STEP #4

Within the newly-created directory, create a new file and name it style.css. Next, open the file in your preferred text editor (TextEdit or Notepad will suffice at this stage), and paste in the following code (replacing the information pertaining to the Twenty Seventeen theme with that of your chosen parent theme):

From here, simply save the file and you’re done! You’ll be able to access your child theme by navigating to Appearances > Themes in your dashboard and activating it.

THE PLUGIN METHOD

If you’d rather learn how to create a WordPress child theme without any coding, there are a number of excellent plugin solutions to choose from. Let’s take a look at some of them.

CHILD THEME CONFIGURATOR

This plugin makes it easy to rapidly generate a child theme, and customize it with options not provided by the default WordPress Customizer. It comes with an intuitive interface, letting you create and customize your child themes in seconds.

Child Theme Configurator also lets you identify and override the exact Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) attributes you want to customize. Although the basic plugin is free, a premium version is available for $19.95.

CHILD THEME CREATOR BY ORBISIUS

This extremely lightweight but versatile plugin lets you generate a child theme in just one click. It also includes a handy feature to let you edit two theme files simultaneously (which is useful if you are creating a series of sites with a similar look and feel). Also, the choice of two theme editor screens takes the hassle out of selecting and transferring code snippets between themes.

Child Theme Creator by Orbisius is well-documented and supported, and has a free version available. More feature-heavy premium version of the plugin starts at $4.99.

CHILD THEMIFY

Despite being among the more basic child theme plugins, Child Themify is practical, streamlined, and completely free.

It features a suite of drop-down menu options letting you set the parent theme, the child theme name, and any additional theme files you’d like to include. As with Child Theme Creator, you can generate your child theme with one click.

How to remove and uninstall WordPress Plugins

However you use your WordPress site, installing plugins is practically a must. After all, they present a quick and easy way of extending the core platform’s functionality. However, to maintain the security and performance of your site, you’ll also need to uninstall plugins every now and then.

Fortunately, WordPress makes it easy to delete plugins you’ve found to be unnecessary (or unreliable). What’s more, after you’ve deleted a plugin, it’s just as easy to reinstall it again.

In this article, we’ll explore some of the primary reasons for removing a plugin from your site. Then, we’ll walk you through the necessary steps to uninstall a plugin. Finally, we’ll cover how to reinstall plugins. Let’s dive in!

WHY SHOULD YOU REMOVE PLUGINS FROM WORDPRESS?

The three main reasons why you may want to remove a plugin boil down to speed, security, and redundancy. Let’s cover each in brief.

Although it’s tempting to keep installing plugins that let you add awesome new features to your site, plugin overload could drastically slow your page loading speeds. As such, you’ll need to clean house every now and again. In fact, we’ve previously talked about other ways to reduce slow loading times and make your site more lightweight, as plugins aren’t the be all and end all of site speeds.

Also, if you’ve downloaded a plugin that hasn’t been updated for a long period of time, or been tested with the latest version of WordPress, it should be removed. Failing to do so could put your site’s security at risk.

Of course, if you’ve found your plugin no longer works (or is otherwise unsuitable for your site), it should be deleted. However, we recommend you double-check that uninstalling the plugin won’t cause your site’s content to be negatively affected. If you’re unsure, backing up your site is strongly recommended.

HOW TO UNINSTALL WORDPRESS PLUGINS

Uninstalling plugins is an extremely straightforward process. However, as we touched on above, it’s a good idea to backup your site before proceeding.

We should note that although you have the option to simply deactivate plugins, this is not the same as deleting them. A deactivated plugin will remove the functionality from your site, but will still take up storage space, as well as pose a potential threat if it becomes outdated. Following the steps below will completely remove the plugin from your WordPress installation.

Let’s see how to do it!

STEP #1

Navigate to your WordPress back end, and from the main dashboard, head to the Plugins > Installed Plugins screen:

This will bring up a page listing all of the plugins you currently have installed on your site, both active and inactive.

STEP #2

Once you’ve accessed your list of plugins, browse through and locate the plugin you wish to uninstall. Once you’ve done this, select the plugin’s Deactivate link if it’s active (if not, move onto step three):

This will stop the plugin from running on your WordPress installation, but it won’t uninstall it. We’ll look at this next.

STEP #3

Once you’ve browsed to (and deactivated) your chosen plugin, a Delete option should appear for the plugin you wish to remove:

When you hit Delete, a window will appear asking you to confirm the plugin’s deletion. Once you hit Yes, WordPress will run through some under the hood tasks, and you’re all done!

As you can see, you don’t have to be a WordPress expert to remove unwanted plugins, although you are also able to manually remove plugins via File Transfer Protocol (FTP), which can be useful if you don’t wish to remove that plugin’s data. However, the approach we’ve outlined is by far the simplest method.

HOW TO REINSTALL WORDPRESS PLUGINS

Unfortunately, unlike Active and Inactive plugins (which are displayed in the Installed Plugins page), uninstalled plugins cannot be readily browsed. As such, the best way to reinstall a plugin is to essentially treat it as a new installation. For the uninitiated, here are the steps you need to take.

STEP #1

This is a comprehensive list of all the essential things corps members should take to camp.

No camp for you if you don’t have the following:

  1. Authentic Student ID Card – (Original and photocopies)
  2. Certificate /Statement of Result from your School (Original and 6 Photocopies). In addition if you are a Medical Doctor, Pharmacist or an Optometrist you will be required to bring along original of your registration certificate with the Nigerian Medical Council, Pharmacist Board or Optometrist Registration Council and evidence of completion of housemanship or internship.
  3. NYSC Call-up letter (Original and 6 photocopies)
  4. Recent Passport Photograph – WHITE BACKGROUND (24 copies)
  5. A recent medical certificate of fitness from a government or military hospital.

The NYSC kit consists of: 2 round neck loosely fitted white T-shirts, 2 pair of white shorts, One NYSC crested vest, a pair of NYSC khaki (Jacket, Belt and trousers), a crested NYSC cap, a pair of Jungle boots, a pair of NYSC white tennis shoes.

However, here’s a list of 10 survival kits during the three weeks.

  1. ROUND-NECKED WHITE T-SHIRTS : This is a usual outfit worn everyday in camp throughout your 3 weeks. It is vital you have at least 5 of this.
  2. WHITE SHORTS: The programme would give you 2 pairs of shorts. It is vital to get 4 extra pairs as you wouldn’t be able to wash daily.
  3. PLAIN WHITE TENNIS SHOES/ WHITE SOCKS: It’s advisable you get one pair of rubber boots to save yourself from stress alongside leather tennis shoes.
  4. CEREALS/PROVISIONS: Unless you have a lot of money, you will definitely need this. Nonetheless it will be helpful when you get tired of the tasteless vendor’s food at camp. Make sure you don’t forget cup, plate and water bottle.
  5. TOILETRIES: Antiseptics, insecticides, towel, sanitary pads are quite essential to keep you a hygiene and healthy life at camp.
  6. MOSQUITO NET: Unless you want to suffer from Malaria, you’ll surely won’t want to forget your net. It is quite vital when you want to keep away those annoying mosquitoes.
  7. CASH: Even though you will be given allowance. You’ll need at least additional 10,000 naira. There are lots of things that take up money in camp like food, charging of phones, e.t.c. Also, don’t forget your ATM.
